This project digitised an existing paper-based record keeping process and transformed the reporting procedure across two self storage sites in the South East. The new system allowed reports to be sent seamlessly to head office without the need for lengthy calculation of the physical records. As a result, staff efficiency increased through easier reporting, management of the sites was aided with records of each unit and its maintenance condition, and historical occupancy trends were able to be exported with ease.
This project automated the task of producing the weekly staffing rota for a student's union bar. This task was previously undertaken by one of the bar managers, taking approximately 3 hours per week to ensure the staffing requirements for each bar were met, while also keeping with staff availability and ensuring staff did not work double shifts. The new system allowed the bar managers to input the staff availability with a few clicks, and the system would do the rest, preparing a provisional rota for inspection. This reduced the overall task time from 3 hours to less than 20 minutes a week.
